Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU)
A sulfur recovery unit, or SRU, converts hydrogen sulfide (H2S), also known as sour gas or acid gas, into sulfur. Hydrogen sulfide is a by-product of processing natural gas and refining high-sulfur crude oil. H2S is burned in the reaction furnace and combined with SO2 to create sulfur.
Petrochemical plants and oil refineries are required to recover 95 and 99.99% of the total sulfur. Having the right refractory products and SRU support can help achieve and maintain the desired recovery rate.

RESCOCAST 17AC is a high temperature, high purity alumina conventional castable with only trace amounts of silica and iron oxide. The high purity of this castable makes it an ideal choice for reducing atmospheres containing hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide. This product should be installed using vibration casting methods.

RESCOCAST 8 is a medium weight, insulating castable with a service limit temperature of 2800°F. A low iron content makes it suitable for most furnace atmospheres, including CO Boilers. RESCOCAST 8 can be installed by either casting or gunning.

Its ideal for reducing atmospheres such as hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide and also provides excellent resistance to slags and high temperature corrosive atmospheres. This product should be installed by pouring; no vibration is needed during installation. It should be noted that SUREFLOW 17A is not recommended for pumpcasting.<br>
