Castables Designed for Hot Weather
RESCO’s “H” castables were specifically formulated for extended working time during summer or Hot weather conditions. Resco has the ability to modify pumpable castable mixes to retard the set so that pumping in hot weather can proceed without the mix setting up in the pipe.
Effects of Hot Weather on Castables:
Hot weather temperatures can reduce working time and accelerate the setting of cement bonded castables. This can be a significant installation issue when considering pumping cement bonded castables in hot weather conditions. Hot weather conditions can heat the castable and mixing water along with the concrete pump equipment and pumping lines.
“H” castables have been formulated to have approximately 2 hours of working time at air temperatures up to 95°F (35°C) but also set within 24 hours after mixing.
It should be noted that “H” castables MUST NOT be used in cool or cold weather since the setting is extended. If “H” castables are used in cool or cold air temperature, there will be significantly delayed and MAY NOT SET HARD.
